Private Classes
After a recent stroke that impaired my walking, the local Assistance Dog Club people referred me to Deborah for help. She undertook to train my young Irish Wolfhound male (and me) to work together. As a trained behavioral scientist, I was fascinated to watch as she applied principles of Pavlov, Skinner, and the Buddha, among others who have influenced behavior, with some ''tough love'' and extraordinary communication (dog and human). Boomer, the pup, rapidly developed into an absolutely solid, steady, trustworthy helper who stays by my side, steadies me when needed, promptly obeys, and gives new luster to the "best friend" label that dogs so richly enjoy Deborah is a superb, effective, intuitive dog trainer that I can unhesitatingly recommend for animals and people of any age! Behavior Problems
Deborah is truly a Godsend. She helped me with my 9-month old German Shepard, Gretchen, who was having aggression problems when someone new would come to our house. A co-worker recommended Deborah to me and I truly am thankful. The first time Deborah came to my house I think Gretchen thought she was a dentist because Gretchen got right into Deborah''s face and showed Deborah her big white teeth and it wasn''t because Gretchen was smiling. Deborah had Gretchen under control within minutes. After six sessions with Deborah, Gretchen is like a new dog. Deborah gave me the tools to work with Gretchen and know how to deal with her. I know Gretchen will miss Deborah''s visits as she truly grew to love and respect Deborah. The minute Deborah walked through my door after her first visit you could almost feel the love and respect Gretchen felt for Deborah. She truly is the "Annie Sullivan" of the animal world. Thanks Deborah for a great job with Gretchen. We both love you for it.

Deborah, Thank you for all your help with my American Pit Bull, Caledonia. Actually, I needed more help than Cal. She took to you immediately. I was amazed at her obedience and love for you. She has learned so much no more pulling on the leash, better behavior all around, more at ease and in control in new situations. Cal loves coming to class and practicing her new skills at home. We''re hoping to achieve the AKC Good Citizen Canine certification soon! I know we can do it with your help! Thanks again, Veronica & Caledonia

Training our Golden Retriever puppy Madison has been fun and rewarding. Deborah''s methods relate to both the dog as well as the human. Without compromising the basic training methodology, Deborah works with the owner to customize the training to adapt to their specific needs or concerns and their breed of dog. She is very knowledgeable about various breeds, their characteristics, and training requirements as evidenced in our group puppy I and II classes. She has been invaluable to us in gaining control with Madison''s enthusiastic personality. The advantages of the group class have been a great opportunity to establish control and attention of our puppy with distractions, not to mention all the socialization skills the puppy gets when interacting with all her new canine friends. The results of Deborah''s training are quickly obvious in both our puppy and all the other puppies in class. It truly is fun to watch each puppy as they learn from week to week! Deborah has become an inv

We were literally thinking there is something really wrong with our dog. We had been told black labs were hyper and to expect them to calm down in a year or two, but seriously, Pepper was out of control. -/ We tried obedience school, but she couldn''t calm down enough to get anything learned. We were seriously thinking we couldn''t keep this high maintenance dog. Deborah came to our house to give Pepper her first private lesson. We almost cried. We finally could see that our dog could be worked with - there was hope. Thank you, Deborah for working not only with Pepper, but with our family, as well. We enjoy our dog immensly, she still is a handful, but we know what to do with her now.

I was amazed by the immediate rapport that Deborah estabished with our Golden Retriever, Sandy. Sandy responded extremely well to Deborah''s techniques and I realized for the first time how much potential Sandy has for learning. Perhaps more importantly for our family, I was very pleased with how Deborah worked with our 10-year old daughter. Our dog had always tried to dominate our youngest child and it was so gratifying to see our daughter gain control for the first time. Deborah is really great with kids - she respects children''s abilities and gears her training in an age-appropriate manner. She''s also fun to work with. We all look forward to continuing our training with Deborah.

It''s a great feeling when your friends come over and the first thing they mention is how well behaved your dog is! I know this would have never happened to me with out Deborah''s help. Not only did I notice a difference in Dexter''s behavior right after the first class, but he was obviously excited to be there every session.
I highly recommend Deborah''s classes to all who read this, she has an amazing ability to communicate and connect with dogs.

Since “Rusty” and I have just finished our second training session with you I felt I should write you a note to thank you for your hard work and great training methods.
As you know I was somewhat uneasy with your method of training at first and sometimes I questioned your methods. My background was with a more harsh way of training both for obedience and agility. I have worked with dogs, horses and mules and everyone has their own methods. I would like to thank you for being patient with me and my opinions regarding the training of dogs. I want to congratulate you on your methods, for the “quiet way” is much easier to apply to our beloved friends and “IT WORKS”.

I was truely amazed at how quickly Deborah had Joe healing. For two years I tried every device known to man and still he was dragging me down the street on our morning jog. He now runs at my side and my son can take him on walks without any worry. He is also very well behaved now. Recently at a vet appointment he was like a totally different dog from his last check up. I have way more control. I highly recomment Deborah''s training.

In just a few short sessions, Deborah turned Winston and Sybil, competitive barkers, into good citizen corgis! Our neighbors are so grateful. She also helped us work on getting them to walk on lead without pulling us. At 4 years old we thought both issues were a lost cause we''d be dealing with forever. We really appreciate Deborah''s patience and skill. Our walks are much more enjoyable now!
